NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It's a side of Nashville many people are not aware exists.
"You have your fantasies and here you can fulfill a lot of them," said Denise Millikan.
She and her husband Dale are members of The Social Club or TSC, the largest swingers club in Nashville.
An estimated 15 million Americans swing. There are now two clubs in Nashville and -- like it or not -- more are likely on the way. Inside, members can socialize, strip down and even swap partners. And, swingers clubs are not regulated by the city.
"Swinging is completely legal," said Millikan.
She and her husband agreed to openly talk with NewsChannel 5 about the lifestyle and also gave an exclusive tour inside The Social Club. They said members swap and there is sex, but that there are also misconceptions.
"Some people think it's just a big orgy. It's not. We have members who never do anything, but just mingle and talk to others," said Millikan.
To join, you must buy a membership. The club is owned by members who also pay a fee each time they visit.
Downstairs you find little tables that surround a dance floor with poles that resemble what you might find in a strip club. But that's where the similarities end. Metro does not regulate TSC like strip clubs. The reason? No money is exchanged at a swingers club for dances or services. Whatever happens is between consenting adults.
The second floor of the club is for more intimate activities. There are private theme rooms: A moon room, a cowboy room, a bondage room. There are also common areas and often times Millikan said voyeurs are welcome.
"Yes, you can watch," said Millikan.
"It's not for everyone," said her husband Dale.
The couple said jealousy can be a problem and that you have to trust your partner.
"With my wife, it's just love, but with other people it's just sex," said Dale Millikan.
He said you would be surprised at the variety of members.
"It's normal everyday people. People you see at work, at grocery stores. Doctors, lawyers, nurses, PTA members, engineers," said Millikan.
TSC has been in Nashville for 33 years and boasts thousands of members. Aside from the two swingers clubs in Nashville, the latest trend is traveling swingers clubs that meet in conventions centers at area hotels.
